Reflexologists use massage on your feet, hands and ears to help you relax and feel better. They work on the idea that these points connect to your whole body and can help ease pain and stress.

The role

What a reflexologist actually does, day to day.

As a reflexologist, you use touch and pressure on specific points of the feet, hands or ears to help clients relax and feel better. You work with people who come to you with stress, pain or health problems, and you listen to what they need. The job is about building trust with clients and helping their body heal itself.

You might work in a wellness centre, spa or your own practice. Before each session you chat with the client about how they're feeling and what they want help with. Then you spend 30 minutes to an hour working on their feet, hands or ears, using different massage techniques. You keep records of what you do and how clients feel, so you can adjust your treatment over time. You also give advice on stretches and self-care they can do at home.
