Radiography Assistant

AI

Radiography assistants help take medical images like X-rays and scans that doctors use to diagnose illness and injury. They work with patients to keep them calm and help radiographers run the imaging equipment.

The role

What a radiography assistant actually does, day to day.

As a radiography assistant, you help prepare patients for imaging procedures - X-rays, CT scans, MRIs - and help radiographers run the equipment. You might explain to a nervous patient what will happen so they feel less anxious, help position them correctly for their scan, and then help the radiographer get clear images.

Your day involves talking to patients, setting up equipment, keeping everything clean and safe, and recording information accurately so doctors get the right scans for the right person. You need to be organised, calm with people who are worried or in pain, and careful about following safety rules - especially around radiation. You will work as part of a team with radiographers and doctors, and seeing those scans help save lives makes this work meaningful.
