The role
What a managers and directors in the extraction of fossil fuels actually does, day to day.
As a Manager or Director in fossil fuel extraction, you run big teams on mining or drilling sites. You decide how the work happens, make sure everyone stays safe, and check that the company follows all the rules. You work with engineers, safety experts and the government to make sure everything runs smoothly and legally.
Your day involves checking on what is happening at the site, talking to workers to spot any problems, and solving things when they go wrong. You also manage the money, work with local communities who live near the site, and look for better or safer ways to do the work. It is practical, hands-on leadership where you keep many balls in the air at once.
