Systems Analyst

AI

IT Business Analysts work out what a company needs and then figure out how technology can help solve those problems. They talk to different teams to understand what's broken or missing, then work with IT people to design and build solutions.

The role

What a systems analyst actually does, day to day.

As an IT Business Analyst, you're the translator between people and computers. A company might have a problem - maybe their sales team can't see customer information quickly, or the warehouse system is too slow - and your job is to work out exactly what they need and then tell the IT department how to fix it.

You spend a lot of time asking questions and listening. You'll meet with managers and staff, understand their day-to-day problems, and sketch out what a better system would look like. Then you write clear instructions for the IT team to build it. When it's finished, you help test it to make sure it actually works for the people who'll use it. It's a mix of detective work, careful thinking, and being able to explain technical ideas in plain English.
