Funeral Directors and Undertakers

As a funeral director, you work with families who have just lost someone they love. Your job starts when you meet them - often very upset - and you listen and explain the options. You help them decide what kind of funeral they want, whether the body will be buried or cremated, and what music and readings will be included.

Behind the scenes, you prepare and care for the deceased with respect, arrange transport, book venues, order flowers and other details, and handle all the paperwork needed. On the day of the funeral, you make sure everything runs smoothly so the family can focus on saying goodbye. This is emotional work. You will hear grief and sadness, and you need to stay calm and kind. But families often say that a good funeral director helped them through their darkest time, and that can be a real privilege.
