Financial Manager and Director

AI

Financial managers and directors look after the money side of organisations. They plan budgets, manage cash, prepare reports, and advise leaders on what the company can afford to do.

The role

What a financial manager and director actually does, day to day.

As a financial manager or director, you're responsible for your organisation's money. You prepare budgets, check the accounts are correct, and report to the top leaders about how much money is coming in and going out. You spot problems early—like if costs are rising too fast—and help the organisation make good decisions about what to spend money on.

Your work involves keeping careful records, checking that everything follows the rules, and explaining numbers to people who don't work in finance. You also help plan for the future: if the company wants to start something new or hire more people, they ask you if they can afford it. You work with other leaders and teams to make sure the money side of the company supports what it's trying to do.
