Bicycle and Motorcycle Delivery Riders and Couriers

AI

Delivery riders on bicycles and motorcycles get packages and food to people quickly across busy cities. With online shopping and food delivery booming, there's plenty of work, and you get to spend your day out on the road.

The role

What a bicycle and motorcycle delivery riders and couriers actually does, day to day.

As a delivery rider, you move around your city on a bike or motorcycle picking up parcels or meals and taking them to customers' doors. You use a delivery app to see what needs collecting and where it needs to go, and you work out the quickest route. You might deliver fifty packages a day, or you might focus on food deliveries for one platform.

The job is physically active - you will be cycling or riding in all weathers, dealing with traffic and busy streets. You need good navigational skills and a reliable bike or bike, and you must follow safety rules. You will also deal directly with customers, so you need to be friendly and calm when things go wrong, like when you are late or a customer is frustrated. You get paid per delivery, so the more you complete, the more you earn. It can be tiring but many riders like the freedom of working outside and being their own boss.
