The role
What a bank and building society clerks actually does, day to day.
As a Bank and Building Society Clerk, you are the first person many customers meet when they come to the bank. You help them with their everyday banking needs - they might want to deposit money, withdraw cash, pay a bill, or ask about a savings account.
Your day is busy and you need to be accurate. You will process many transactions, handle cash, and check that customers are who they say they are. You will also answer questions about the bank's products and help solve any problems customers have with their accounts. Banks work hard to keep money safe, and part of your job is to spot anything that looks odd and report it.
