Business Management and Sport & Physical Education
Business management and sport and physical education is a combination that makes genuine sense for students who want to work in the sport sector or who recognise that management skills and sport knowledge are both valuable in a professional landscape that increasingly rewards people who can bridge these domains. Business management develops your understanding of organisations, markets, strategy, finance, and human resources. Sport and physical education engages with how sport is structured and delivered, both at the grassroots and elite levels, and what physical education means in educational and community contexts.
At Liverpool Hope University this four-year full-time programme, which includes a foundation year, brings both elements together, developing your understanding of business principles, organisational dynamics, and management processes alongside knowledge of sport, physical activity, and their social and educational significance. The foundation year provides the academic preparation needed before you engage with degree-level content.
A sandwich year, a year abroad, and work placements integrated throughout give you professional and international experience alongside your academic study, which is particularly valuable in sport management and physical education, where professional networks and direct experience matter to employers.
Graduates move into careers in sport management, facility management, sport development, event management, PE teaching (typically following a PGCE), coaching, health promotion, and a wide range of other roles in the sport and education sectors. Many also continue to postgraduate study in sport management, business, or education.
