BA Spanish with Management Studies
About this course
Spanish with management studies at UCL combines genuine linguistic and cultural depth with the practical and analytical skills that management education provides. Spanish is spoken by more than 500 million people as a first language, making it one of the world's most widely used languages, and it is an official language across Spain, most of Latin America, and Equatorial Guinea. The literary, cultural, and historical traditions of the Spanish-speaking world are extraordinarily rich, spanning medieval Castilian poetry, the literature of the Spanish Golden Age, the modernismo of the late nineteenth century, and the extraordinary flowering of Latin American fiction in the twentieth century. Management studies provides a complementary set of skills, developing your understanding of how organisations work, how markets function, and how strategic decisions are made. This four-year full-time programme at University College London takes you to a high level of proficiency in Spanish, with language study running throughout the degree alongside literary, cultural, and film study. The management element introduces you to the principles of business strategy, organisational behaviour, marketing, and finance, giving you a grounding in the analytical tools of management. UCL's location in London, one of the world's most international cities with a large Spanish and Latin American community, enriches the cultural dimension of the degree, and the university's connections with business and cultural institutions are strong. Graduates with genuine Spanish language competence and management knowledge are well placed in the graduate job market. Career routes include management roles in multinational companies with Spanish-speaking markets, consulting, banking and finance, the cultural and creative industries, diplomacy, journalism, and international development. The degree also provides a strong foundation for postgraduate study in Spanish and Latin American studies, management, or international business.
