BSc Psychology With Clinical And Health Perspectives
About this course
Psychology with Clinical and Health Perspectives applies the science of mind and behaviour to some of the most pressing challenges in wellbeing, healthcare, and society. Understanding how psychological factors influence physical health, how clinical conditions develop and are treated, and how individuals and communities can be supported to live healthier and more fulfilling lives requires both solid grounding in psychology as a discipline and focused engagement with its health and clinical applications. At Edge Hill University, this three-year full-time degree develops that combination in a purposeful and practically oriented way. You will study the core areas of psychology required for a British Psychological Society-accredited degree, including biological, cognitive, developmental, social, and individual-differences psychology, alongside dedicated modules that bring clinical and health perspectives into focus. You will examine how psychological models are applied in healthcare settings, how mental health conditions are understood and supported, and how health psychology contributes to the design of interventions and public health policy. Research methods and statistics are central throughout, and you will develop the quantitative and qualitative skills needed to understand, evaluate, and conduct psychological research. The degree includes a placement year, giving you extended professional experience, and a year abroad option as well as integrated work placement opportunities. The typical entry tariff is 120 UCAS points. Many students on this pathway are drawn by an interest in clinical psychology, counselling, mental health nursing, occupational therapy, or related professions, and the degree provides strong preparation for postgraduate training in these areas. Graduates also pursue careers in health promotion, public health research, NHS management, social care, educational psychology support, and the voluntary sector. Because it is an accredited psychology degree, it provides the Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership with the BPS, which is the foundation for postgraduate training in professional psychology.
