About this course

Psychology is the scientific study of the mind and behaviour. It asks how we perceive the world around us, how we learn and remember, how we feel and are motivated, how we relate to and are influenced by other people, and what explains the differences in personality, cognitive ability, and mental health that we observe across individuals. It is a discipline that is simultaneously rigorous in its methods and profound in its subject matter, addressing questions that lie at the heart of what it means to be human. At the University of Law, this three-year full-time degree takes a strongly applied approach, connecting psychological principles to real professional and clinical contexts from early in the programme. Work-based learning is integrated into the degree, with students completing placements that bridge academic knowledge and hands-on professional experience, building essential workplace competencies including communication skills, health and safety awareness, and career planning. The programme also addresses mental health and wellbeing in depth, developing your understanding of psychological distress, systemic health inequalities, and neurodiversity, and encouraging critical comparison of different models of psychological practice. The typical entry tariff is 88 UCAS points. Graduates of psychology programmes find careers in mental health support, human resources, occupational psychology, education, social work, research, the charity sector, marketing, and a wide range of other fields where understanding human behaviour matters. For those who want to pursue professional practice as a psychologist, further postgraduate training in clinical, educational, forensic, or occupational psychology is required.
