BSc Project Management
About this course
Project management is a discipline that underpins successful delivery across virtually every sector. Whether the project is a construction scheme, a software implementation, a new product launch, or an organisational change programme, the principles of defining scope, managing resources, tracking progress, managing risk, and delivering on time and within budget are universal. As organisations in both the private and public sectors increasingly organise their work as projects, the demand for qualified project managers continues to grow. At Leeds Beckett this part-time programme is accredited by the Association for Project Management, the UK's leading professional body for project management, and it develops the full range of technical skills required to deliver projects effectively across different sectors and contexts. You will study project governance, planning and scheduling, risk management, stakeholder communication, budgeting, and the human dimensions of leading project teams. The programme includes a sandwich year providing substantial professional experience, a year abroad for those wishing to engage with project management in an international context, and work placement opportunities throughout. The APM accreditation means that the programme is recognised by the profession and supports your development toward professional qualifications. Graduates go on to careers as project managers, programme managers, project coordinators, and in a wide range of delivery-focused roles across construction, information technology, healthcare, the public sector, financial services, and many other industries. The part-time structure allows you to develop professional experience alongside your studies, which is particularly valuable in a discipline where real-world practice is as important as theoretical knowledge. Many graduates pursue APM or PRINCE2 professional qualifications after completing their degree, and postgraduate study in project management is another route for those wishing to develop their expertise further.
