MSci Physiotherapy
About this course
Physiotherapy is a healthcare profession focused on restoring and maintaining physical function and movement, working with people whose mobility and wellbeing have been affected by injury, illness, or disability. Physiotherapists work across a wide range of settings, from acute hospital wards and outpatient clinics to community services, sports medicine, and palliative care, using evidence-based assessment, manual therapy, exercise prescription, and other techniques to help people of all ages live fuller, more active lives. At the University of Keele, this four-year full-time Masters programme is designed to develop you into a highly competent and clinically astute physiotherapist who can improve people's quality of life and physical wellbeing by restoring, maintaining, and enhancing their function and movement. The four-year master's level programme gives you a depth of clinical and scientific knowledge that extends beyond the standard three-year degree, combining theoretical study in anatomy, physiology, pathology, and clinical reasoning with extensive practical placement experience. A year abroad is built into the programme, giving you the opportunity to develop your clinical skills in an international setting. Entry typically requires around 136 UCAS tariff points. Physiotherapy graduates qualify to register with the Health and Care Professions Council and practise as physiotherapists in the NHS, private practice, sports medicine, and occupational health settings. The profession offers strong career progression, with routes into specialist clinical practice, management, research, and academic roles. The master's level of this programme also provides a particularly strong foundation for those wishing to develop an evidence-based practice or pursue postgraduate research.
