About this course
Musical theatre requires its performers to operate simultaneously as singers, actors, and dancers, integrating three demanding performing arts into a unified and convincing stage presence. The training required to achieve this integration is intensive, cumulative, and vocational: it develops technical skill in each discipline while insisting that the three can never really be separated in practice. A performer who can sing but cannot act, or who can dance but cannot deliver a lyric with emotional truth, will not sustain a professional career. Musical theatre training at the University of Chichester is delivered through Italia Conti, an institution established in 1911 that has an outstanding international reputation as one of the leading performing arts schools in the country. You will receive training of the highest professional standard, developing your voice, acting technique, and movement skills under the guidance of experienced practitioners with strong industry connections.
