BA Media, Marketing and Public Relations
About this course
Media, marketing and public relations is a degree that addresses the three interconnected disciplines through which organisations communicate with their audiences. Media encompasses the platforms and formats through which messages are delivered, from broadcast and print to digital, social and interactive. Marketing provides the strategic framework for understanding audiences, positioning products and services, and designing communications that achieve commercial or organisational goals. Public relations manages the relationships between organisations and their multiple publics, shaping reputation and managing communication in both normal and crisis conditions. At the University of Bedfordshire, the three-year full-time programme develops your understanding of all three disciplines alongside practical skills in creating and managing communications across different formats and channels. You will study consumer behaviour, brand strategy, digital marketing, content creation, media planning, campaign management and PR theory and practice. The degree benefits from strong industry links, including with Luton Town FC, Bedford Blues RFC and PR and communications agencies, which provide live project opportunities, guest speakers and pathways to professional experience. Bedfordshire's location in the east of England, within reach of London, gives students access to a wide range of media, marketing and PR employers across the capital and the surrounding region. Graduates of media, marketing and public relations degrees work in advertising agencies, marketing departments, PR consultancies, digital media companies, corporate communications, sports marketing, brand management, content creation and journalism. The versatility of the combined degree is a particular strength, as it opens doors across a wider range of organisational and sector contexts than a single-discipline programme. Postgraduate study in marketing, public relations, communications or digital media is a natural continuation.
