BA Marketing
About this course
Marketing is the discipline concerned with how organisations understand the people they want to reach, develop products and services that serve them well, and communicate value in ways that build recognition, trust and loyalty. It combines behavioural science with data analysis, creative thinking with commercial judgment, and an understanding of media and culture with the rigour of evidence-based strategy. In an era when consumer attention is fragmented across digital platforms and the volume of competing messages is enormous, the ability to cut through with relevant, resonant communication is more valuable than ever. At Leeds Beckett University you will follow a three-year programme that develops your understanding of how marketers combine consumer behaviour, data and insight to create campaigns and experiences that matter to people. You will study marketing theory and practice across its full range, from brand strategy, consumer psychology and market research to digital marketing, content creation, media planning and commercial analytics. The programme includes a sandwich year, a year abroad, and a work placement, giving you substantial professional experience and international perspective alongside your academic development. These structured opportunities are central to what the programme delivers: theoretical understanding without professional application is incomplete preparation. Marketing graduates work in marketing departments, advertising and creative agencies, digital marketing agencies, public relations firms, market research organisations, and in-house brand and communications teams across every sector of the economy. Roles include marketing manager, digital marketing specialist, brand manager, content strategist, social media manager, market research analyst, and communications officer. The skills you develop are also highly relevant to entrepreneurship, where marketing capability is often the difference between a good product that nobody knows about and a brand with genuine reach. Postgraduate study in marketing, digital marketing, or consumer behaviour is an option for those who wish to specialise or develop further.
