BSc Management
About this course
Management is the discipline concerned with how organisations are led, planned, coordinated, and developed. It encompasses strategy, operations, marketing, finance, human resources, and the organisational and behavioural dimensions of working life, giving students a broad and genuinely applicable understanding of how businesses and institutions function. At the same time, management as a field of study asks critical questions about organisations in their social, economic, and environmental context, developing not just professional competence but analytical depth and ethical awareness. At Loughborough University, this four-year full-time BSc Management programme is deliberately broad-based and flexible, giving you the grounding to pursue a career in any area of business and management. You will study the core disciplines of management, developing your ability to analyse complex business situations, evaluate strategic options, manage people and resources, and communicate your thinking to diverse audiences. The programme develops strong communication skills, adaptability, and resilience, qualities that Loughborough's graduates are noted for in the business world. A year abroad is included in the programme, giving you the opportunity to study at a partner institution in another country and to develop the international perspective that is increasingly important for management careers in a globalised economy. You will also develop skills in quantitative and qualitative analysis, research methods, and evidence-based decision-making, alongside the interpersonal and leadership capabilities that effective managers need. The four-year structure gives you the time to develop genuine depth across the field rather than simply surveying it. Graduates of management at Loughborough go on to careers across all sectors, including consultancy, finance, marketing, operations, human resources, and general management roles in private companies, public organisations, and the third sector. Many pursue professional qualifications through bodies such as the Chartered Management Institute. Postgraduate study, including MBA programmes and specialist masters degrees, is a well-supported route for those seeking to accelerate their careers.
