BA Law and Management
About this course
Law and management is a combination that recognises a fundamental reality of professional and commercial life: almost every significant decision organisations make has legal dimensions, and almost every legal matter arises in an organisational context. Understanding both disciplines gives you a perspective that is valuable across a wide range of careers, whether you pursue a legal path, a management role, or work at the intersection of the two. At Robert Gordon University, this four-year, full-time programme gives you a sound understanding of the principles and practice of law alongside the key knowledge and skills of business management. The programme includes a foundation year, which provides a thorough introduction to the academic skills and subject knowledge required before you progress to the main degree, making it an accessible route for students coming from a range of educational backgrounds. You will study areas of law including contract, employment, commercial law, and the Scottish legal system alongside management subjects covering strategy, finance, marketing, and organisational behaviour. Considerable flexibility at honours level allows you to shape your studies towards the areas where your interests and career aspirations lie. A year abroad option is available, giving you the opportunity to study law and management in a different national context. Graduates are well-placed for careers in business law, commercial management, HR, compliance, corporate governance, and management consultancy, as well as for the professional qualification routes into legal practice in Scotland and elsewhere. The combination of legal literacy and management competence is valued by employers across financial services, property, healthcare, the public sector, and technology. Many graduates also pursue postgraduate study in law, business, or related fields, developing their specialism further after graduation.
