BSc International Tourism Management
About this course
International tourism management addresses one of the world's largest and most complex industries, examining how destinations are developed and marketed, how tourism organisations are managed, and how travel and hospitality function within a global economic and cultural system. It is a field that demands both business and management competence and a genuine understanding of the international contexts in which tourism operates, from the economic development of destination countries to the social and environmental impacts of large-scale visitor flows. At Middlesex University this part-time programme blends business management, marketing, and events management with a focused understanding of tourism in its global context. You will study the management of tourism organisations, destination marketing, sustainable tourism, event planning, and the business of hospitality, while drawing on the institution's strong global links and the diverse campus community that international teaching staff bring to the programme. A foundation year is available for students who would benefit from additional preparation, and a sandwich year, a year abroad, and a work placement are all incorporated into the degree, giving you extensive professional and international experience alongside your academic development. Graduates in international tourism management pursue careers across the broad tourism, hospitality, and events sector, including roles in tour operations, destination management organisations, hotel and resort management, airline and transport companies, cultural and heritage attractions, and event management agencies. The international orientation of the programme is a genuine advantage in an industry that operates globally, and graduates are well placed for roles that require cross-cultural communication, strategic thinking, and commercial awareness. Further study in tourism, hospitality management, or international business is also a well-supported path.
