BSc International Business Management
About this course
International business management addresses the challenge of creating and managing organisations that operate across national borders in a global economy characterised by cultural diversity, regulatory complexity, currency risk and rapidly shifting trade relationships. It is a discipline that combines the analytical tools of management and strategy with the broader political, economic and cultural knowledge needed to understand international business environments and the specific challenges of managing across them. As global supply chains, cross-border investment and international competition reshape industries, the ability to think and act across national contexts is one of the most valuable skills available to business graduates. At the University of Salford this programme prepares you to thrive in multinational firms, export-driven businesses, NGOs and global trade roles, providing the knowledge, experience and confidence to operate effectively in internationally facing commercial and organisational contexts. The programme includes a year abroad, extending the full course over four years full time and giving you the opportunity to study in a different national and business culture, developing the cross-cultural competence and international perspective that employers in globally oriented organisations specifically seek. You will study international trade, cross-cultural management, global strategy, international marketing, finance in global contexts and the political and regulatory frameworks that govern international business activity. You will also develop professional skills in analysis, communication, negotiation and the management of diverse teams. Graduates from international business management programmes move into careers in multinational corporations, international consulting, global trade and logistics, export management, international finance, commercial diplomacy and international development. The year abroad strengthens your graduate profile significantly. Postgraduate study in international business, management or a related field is also a well-established route.
