BA International Business Management
About this course
International business management is a discipline that prepares you to lead and operate organisations in the increasingly complex and interconnected global economy. All significant businesses now operate across national boundaries, and understanding the dynamics of international markets, foreign investment, cross-cultural management, global supply chains, and international trade regulation is fundamental to effective management in a world where geography, culture, and politics continue to shape commercial opportunity and risk. At the University of Sheffield, this three-year full-time programme builds a solid foundation of business knowledge, covering strategy, finance, marketing, operations, and organisational behaviour, before taking students through a year abroad that immerses them in a different academic and commercial environment. The year abroad is a genuinely formative part of the programme, giving you direct international experience that shapes how you understand the global dimensions of business. Many students take a paid placement year after the year abroad, returning to Sheffield for their final year with both international and professional experience. You will graduate with a solid understanding of how businesses function and succeed in international markets. The University of Sheffield's Management School has a strong research base, and the programme reflects current thinking in international business strategy and management. You will develop analytical, strategic, and communicative skills alongside the cross-cultural awareness that international management specifically demands. Graduates from international business management programmes enter careers in consulting, finance, corporate management, international trade, marketing, supply chain management, and a wide range of other commercial fields. The year abroad and optional placement year make graduates particularly appealing to global employers. Postgraduate study including MBAs, specialist international business masters, or professional qualifications is a natural next step.
