BA Global Politics with Integrated Year Abroad in Brussels
About this course
Global politics is the study of how nations, international organisations, and other actors interact to shape the world we live in: why they cooperate or come into conflict, how international norms and law develop and are enforced, and what forces are driving the transformation of the international system in the twenty-first century. It engages with questions about power, democracy, human rights, security, trade, climate, and the governance of a world in which no single authority is in charge. At the University of Warwick, this three-year, full-time programme offers a particularly distinctive route: an integrated year abroad in Brussels, the capital of the European Union and one of the world's most important centres of international governance and political decision-making. You will study global politics at Warwick alongside time spent studying at one of Europe's leading universities in a city where international politics is not just an academic subject but a daily reality. You will engage with questions about how nations interact, how Europe engages with the wider world, and how to think critically about the forces shaping global affairs. The experience of studying at two leading European institutions in one of the world's most politically significant cities is a powerful differentiator in a competitive graduate market. Graduates go on to careers in diplomacy, the civil service, international organisations, European institutions, journalism, NGOs, think tanks, policy research, and international business. The combination of academic rigour, political analysis, and direct experience of European politics that the programme provides prepares you well for any career that requires engagement with international affairs. Many graduates continue to postgraduate study in political science, international relations, or European studies.
