German and mathematics is an unusual but intellectually rewarding combination, pairing the precision and abstraction of pure and applied mathematics with the linguistic and cultural riches of the German-speaking world. Germany has one of the deepest traditions in mathematics, from the great figures of the nineteenth century to the thriving research institutions of today. At the University of Glasgow, this five-year full-time programme allows you to develop genuine depth in both disciplines. In the honours years you will choose from a wide variety of courses in both mathematics and German, tailoring the degree to your interests. The programme includes an ambassador scheme that gives students the opportunity to spend time in schools, experiencing teaching at first hand and developing workplace skills. A sandwich year is also part of the degree, and work placement is available, both of which provide professional experience alongside your studies.
