BA Events Management
About this course
Events management is the professional discipline concerned with planning, organising and delivering events of all kinds, from corporate conferences and product launches to music festivals, sporting occasions, charity galas and community celebrations. The events sector has grown substantially and encompasses venues ranging from small intimate settings to major multi-purpose arenas, requiring practitioners who can manage logistics, budgets, suppliers, marketing, audience experience and risk simultaneously. The discipline combines commercial acumen with creativity and the operational precision that delivering complex live experiences demands. At Birmingham City University you will study for three years full-time, developing the skills, real-world experience and insight needed to build a career in this sector. The programme includes a sandwich year in professional practice and a placement component, giving you direct professional experience within the events industry before you graduate. You will learn to manage the full lifecycle of an event, from initial concept and venue selection through supplier management, marketing and logistics to on-site delivery and post-event evaluation, building the practical competence that employers in the events sector consistently prioritise. Events management graduates work across the events industry as event coordinators, event managers, production managers, venue managers, festival organisers, conference managers and corporate events professionals. The sector encompasses corporate events, hospitality, sports events, arts and culture, charity fundraising and public events across local, national and international contexts. Many graduates also build careers in event marketing, sponsorship, public relations and communications, where the ability to understand and deliver live audience experiences is directly relevant. Others move into entertainment, tourism, destination management or postgraduate study in events, hospitality or tourism management.
