BSc Esports Enterprise and Management with Foundation Year
About this course
Esports has grown from a niche community of competitive gamers into a global industry generating significant revenues through tournaments, streaming, sponsorship, media rights, and merchandise. Managing that industry requires people who understand both its distinctive culture and technology and the fundamental principles of business, media, and enterprise that make any commercial operation work. Esports enterprise and management prepares you for leadership roles in an industry that is still rapidly evolving and where the skills of the first generation of professional managers are very much in demand. At Salford this programme begins with a foundation year designed to build your confidence, knowledge, and practical skills before the main degree begins. The foundation year introduces you to business, media, and digital skills alongside communication, teamwork, and project planning, ensuring you are ready for the demands of degree-level study. The main programme covers the business dimensions of esports, including event management, sponsorship and partnership, media and content, audience development, brand management, and the operational realities of running teams, venues, and competitions. The four-year full-time programme includes a sandwich placement year with a work placement, giving you genuine professional experience in an esports or adjacent media and entertainment business before you graduate. Graduates go on to careers in esports organisations as team managers, event producers, content creators, commercial managers, and marketing professionals, as well as in the wider games and entertainment industries. The management and enterprise skills the degree develops are also applicable to roles in sports management, media production, live events, and digital entertainment. Postgraduate study in sports management, events, or media is also an option for those who want to develop their expertise further.
