About this course

Environmental management and sustainability addresses one of the defining challenges of the twenty-first century: how human societies can meet their needs without destroying the natural systems on which they depend. It is an applied discipline that draws on ecology, geography, economics, social science, and policy studies to understand environmental problems and develop practical responses. The sustainability dimension adds a focus on long-term thinking, asking not just how current damage can be limited but how organisations, communities, and economies can be transformed to operate within ecological limits. This four-year full-time programme at Abertay University in Dundee includes a year abroad, giving you the chance to study or work in an environmental context outside the UK and develop a genuinely international perspective on sustainability challenges.
