About this course

Drama and film are disciplines that share a concern with storytelling, performance, and the creation of meaning through time-based art forms. Drama explores theatre in its historical and contemporary dimensions, from classical texts and theatrical traditions to devised, community, and experimental performance. Film studies examines cinema as an art form, a cultural product, and a commercial industry, asking how films are made, how they generate meaning, and how they reflect and shape the societies that produce and consume them. Studying both disciplines together deepens your understanding of each, as the two art forms have influenced each other profoundly throughout the history of the moving image.
