BA Creative Industries Business Management and Music Production
About this course
Creative industries business management and music production is a degree that takes seriously both the commercial realities of the creative economy and the craft of making music. The creative industries, including music, film, games, fashion, and the arts, are among the most dynamic sectors of the modern economy, and managing businesses within them requires a combination of standard business competences and specific knowledge of how creative enterprises operate, how intellectual property works, and how audiences and markets for creative work behave differently from markets for conventional goods and services. Music production, meanwhile, is the craft of creating, recording, mixing, and mastering audio in professional contexts. At Liverpool Hope University this three-year full-time programme combines business management with music production, developing both your understanding of how creative and commercial organisations function and your practical skills as a music producer. You will study business principles, organisational dynamics, and management processes alongside the techniques and technologies of professional music production, working with industry-standard software and equipment. The combination is designed to produce graduates who can operate on both sides of the creative-commercial divide. A sandwich year, a year abroad, and work placements integrated throughout the programme provide professional and international experience that is particularly valuable in industries where networks and practical credits matter. Graduates move into careers in music production, artist management, music publishing, label management, event management, creative agencies, digital content creation, and the broader creative industries. Many also go on to postgraduate study in music business, creative industries management, or music production.
