About this course

Chiropractic is a regulated healthcare profession focused on the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disorders affecting the neuromusculoskeletal system, particularly the spine and its influence on the nervous system and overall health. Chiropractors work with patients experiencing back and neck pain, headaches, and musculoskeletal conditions, using manual therapy techniques alongside examination, diagnosis, and patient management. The profession is governed by the General Chiropractic Council, and qualification requires both academic rigour and substantial supervised clinical practice. At London South Bank University this four-year full-time programme includes a foundation year, offering a supported entry route for students who will benefit from additional preparation before the clinical and scientific content of the main degree. From the first year of the programme you will have the opportunity to observe clinical practice, with annual clinical placements forming a core part of your development throughout the course. You will study in dedicated chiropractic facilities, developing your diagnostic and clinical skills alongside the scientific knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pathology, and neuroscience that underpins safe and effective practice. The programme equips you to correctly identify, treat, and prevent neuromusculoskeletal disorders, and develops the research literacy needed to practise in an evidence-informed way and to continue learning throughout a professional career. Graduation from a GCC-accredited chiropractic programme is the first step towards registration as a chiropractor, which enables you to practise independently or within a multi-disciplinary clinical setting. Most graduates go on to establish or join private practices, though opportunities exist in sports clinics, corporate wellness settings, and NHS integrated care environments. The clinical and diagnostic skills developed through the programme can also support further postgraduate study or research in musculoskeletal health, rehabilitation, or related healthcare fields.
