BA Business Management and Musical Theatre (With Foundation Year)
About this course
Business management and musical theatre is an unusual combination, but one with genuine logic: the musical theatre industry is, at its core, a business, and the skills needed to produce, manage, and sustain theatrical enterprises are precisely those that a business management education develops. Whether you are drawn to the creative performing arts or to the commercial and organisational dimensions of the industry, this four-year full-time degree at Liverpool Hope University gives you competence in both. The programme begins with a foundation year before progressing into the joint honours degree, and it includes a sandwich placement year, a year abroad, and embedded work placement experience. On the business management side, you will examine how organisations of all sizes function in uncertain and rapidly changing environments, developing understanding of business principles, organisational dynamics, and the strategic thinking needed to navigate complex commercial situations. The musical theatre strand will develop your performance skills alongside an understanding of the theatre industry's history, production, and professional context. The foundation year eases your transition into degree-level study, building confidence and academic skills before the more demanding work of the degree proper. The sandwich year, year abroad, and work placement experience allow you to apply your learning in professional and international settings, building networks and contextual knowledge. An entry tariff of 88 points reflects an inclusive admissions approach. Graduates are well positioned for careers in theatre production and management, arts administration, event management, venue management, performance, and general business management, as well as roles in the wider cultural and creative industries where artistic and commercial skills need to work together.
