BSc Business and Management with a Year Abroad
About this course
Business and management is the study of how organisations are run, how they make decisions, how they compete and adapt, and how they create and distribute value for their stakeholders. It is a discipline that combines analytical rigour with practical relevance, drawing on economics, psychology, sociology, strategy and quantitative methods to equip graduates with the understanding and skills needed to contribute effectively in commercial, public and not-for-profit organisations of all kinds. At Kent Business School this programme is designed to develop business leaders who generate profit while also creating positive impact for people and the planet, reflecting a commitment to responsible management education that goes beyond purely financial measures of success. The course includes a year abroad, extending the full programme to four years full time, which gives you the opportunity to experience business and management in a different national and cultural context. The year abroad develops not only international perspective but also the personal adaptability and cross-cultural communication skills that multinational employers increasingly value. You will study the core disciplines of business management, including marketing, finance, operations, strategy, organisational behaviour and the business environment, with a thread of sustainability and ethical responsibility running through the curriculum. You will be encouraged to think critically about the purposes of business and the responsibilities that organisations carry towards their various stakeholders, not just their owners. Graduates from business and management programmes move into a wide range of careers in commercial organisations, consultancy, the public sector, social enterprises and the third sector. Roles include management trainee schemes, business development, operations management, marketing and commercial roles. The international experience of the year abroad strengthens your competitiveness in the graduate market. Postgraduate study in business administration, international management or specialist management disciplines is also a well-established route.
