BSc Adult Nursing Blended Learning
About this course
Adult nursing is the healthcare profession concerned with the assessment, planning, delivery and evaluation of clinical care for adults across the full spectrum of physical health conditions and the full range of care settings. Adult nurses work in acute hospitals, community clinics, care homes, mental health services and patients' own homes, providing the clinical skill, human care and professional judgement that patients need at some of the most difficult moments in their lives. The profession requires both deep technical knowledge and the emotional intelligence and communication skills to work with people in states of vulnerability, pain and uncertainty. At Coventry University, this three-year qualifying programme uses a blended learning approach, combining flexible and interactive digital learning with practical clinical placements, as the university's own description explains. This model allows greater flexibility in how academic content is delivered while maintaining the supervised clinical experience that professional registration requires and that cannot be replaced by online study. You will study anatomy and physiology, pharmacology, nursing theory, evidence-based practice, professional ethics, leadership and the full scope of adult nursing knowledge, engaging with the material through digital platforms and supported learning alongside face-to-face clinical teaching. Clinical placements remain central to the programme: spending time in real healthcare settings, working with real patients under the supervision of registered nurses and other practitioners, is how nursing students develop the practical competence and professional identity that registration demands. Graduates register with the Nursing and Midwifery Council as adult nurses and enter practice across NHS and independent healthcare settings. The blended learning format makes the programme particularly suitable for those who need some flexibility in their academic study while remaining committed to the demanding practice components that nursing education requires. Career progression follows the same routes as for any registered nurse, with specialist, advanced and leadership roles available to those who continue their professional development.
