Accounting is the language of business: the discipline through which organisations record, report, and interpret their financial activity. It encompasses financial accounting and reporting, management accounting, auditing, taxation, and the regulatory frameworks that govern how financial information is produced and disclosed. Accountants provide the information on which investors, managers, regulators, and other stakeholders base decisions, and the profession's role in maintaining financial integrity makes it one of the most systematically trusted in the economy. At Stirling, this four-year full-time programme has been carefully designed to work towards major professional exemptions from accountancy bodies, reducing the time and cost of professional qualification after graduation. You will study the full range of accounting disciplines alongside the business and economic context in which accounting practice operates, developing both technical competency and the commercial awareness that professional accountants need. The programme includes a year abroad, giving you the opportunity to study accounting and business in an international context. The typical entry tariff is 184 points. Graduates of accounting degrees pursue professional qualification with bodies including the ICAEW, ACCA, CIMA, ICAS, and CIPFA, typically taking further professional examinations after graduation.
