About this course

Accounting and finance are the twin foundations of financial management in organisations of every kind. Accounting provides the systems and language through which financial information is recorded, reported, and used to support decision-making, with branches spanning financial reporting, management accounting, auditing, and taxation. Finance examines how organisations raise and deploy capital, how investments are valued and managed, how risk is assessed, and how financial strategy supports the achievement of organisational goals. Together they give you the tools to understand and contribute to the financial health of businesses, public bodies, and other organisations. This three-year, full-time programme at Anglia Ruskin takes a hands-on practical approach, equipping you with the industry skills needed to enter the fields of accounting, finance, and broader business. You will study financial reporting, management accounting, corporate finance, investment analysis, taxation, and the commercial and business contexts in which financial decisions are made. The programme develops both technical competence and the broader business awareness that makes accountants and financial managers genuinely useful to the organisations they work in. Graduates are well placed for careers in accountancy, financial management, banking, investment, business analysis, and commercial finance across all sectors of the economy. Many go on to pursue professional qualifications with bodies such as the ICAEW, ACCA, CIMA, or CIPFA, and the degree provides a recognised academic foundation for those routes. The practical orientation of the Anglia Ruskin programme means graduates are prepared to make a contribution from an early stage in their careers. Further postgraduate study in finance, accounting, or business is an option for those who wish to develop deeper expertise or pursue careers in senior financial leadership or research.
