BAcc Accountancy and Spanish
About this course
Accountancy and Spanish is a combination that equips you for financial roles in an international context. Accountancy provides the technical knowledge and professional foundations of financial reporting, management accounting, auditing, and taxation, while Spanish opens the language and cultures of one of the world's most widely spoken languages across Spain and Latin America, giving you access to a vast range of professional and economic opportunities that would otherwise be closed to monolingual English speakers. This four-year, full-time programme at the University of Stirling includes a year abroad, which typically gives you the opportunity to spend time in a Spanish-speaking country, developing your language skills through immersion and gaining real cultural understanding that goes well beyond what classroom study alone can achieve. You will study accountancy across the major professional areas while also developing your Spanish to a high level through language study, literature, and cultural engagement. The combination is particularly well suited to students who want careers in international business, multinational accountancy firms, or organisations with significant operations in Spain or Latin America. Graduates are well positioned for careers in accountancy and financial management within international organisations and multinational companies, where Spanish language competence adds genuine professional value. Many pursue professional accountancy qualifications with bodies such as the ICAEW, ACCA, or CIMA after graduation, using the degree as the academic foundation for those routes. Roles in international finance, audit, tax, financial consulting, and commercial finance are common destinations. The year abroad and the cultural intelligence the degree develops also prepare graduates for international careers more broadly, in organisations where working across languages and cultures is part of everyday professional life.
