BAcc Accountancy and Marketing
About this course
Accountancy and marketing address two fundamental aspects of how organisations operate: how they manage and report on their financial position, and how they connect with the people they want to serve. Combining them in a single degree makes a great deal of practical sense, because financial literacy and commercial awareness are deeply complementary, and understanding both equips you to see an organisation whole. At the University of Stirling this four-year, full-time programme develops your knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, management accounting, and auditing alongside marketing theory, consumer behaviour, brand management, and strategic communications. You will study how organisations make financial decisions and how those decisions connect to the way they position themselves in the marketplace. Stirling's business school provides a professionally oriented environment for this learning. A year abroad is built into the programme, giving you the opportunity to study at a partner university overseas and to gain an international perspective on both disciplines. The combination of accountancy and marketing skills is valued across a wide range of sectors, from consumer goods and retail to professional services, financial institutions, and the public sector. Many graduates go on to pursue professional accountancy qualifications, with the degree providing exemptions from elements of the exams set by bodies such as ACCA, CIMA, and ICAS. Others build careers in marketing management, brand strategy, or digital marketing, using their financial grounding to bring commercial rigour to creative and strategic roles. Some graduates move into roles at the boundary of both disciplines, such as finance business partnering, commercial management, or consultancy, where the ability to move between financial analysis and customer insight is particularly valued. Postgraduate study in accounting, marketing, or business administration is also a natural next step.
